Sense of Wonder

Dear Precious friends,
On this magnificent Monday, this gift from God, I pray we are waking up with gratitude to our Lord. I love the fact that Scripture tells us God's mercies begin afresh each morning. God is never depleted. We can open our eyes the next morning with absolute joy in the knowledge that our Father is waiting to spend the day with us, pouring out His mercy and grace. We can't use up His mercies; instead, we can wake up with a renewed sense of wonder at God 's marvelous grace, knowing that He has a more than abundant supply of everything we need, and His hand is open to give it to us if we ask Him. Our Father does not grow weary of us as we grow weary of ourselves. Instead, He gives us every day as an opportunity to experience the deep joy of His ever-present mercies, mercies that can reach us no matter how bleak our circumstances. And if we lose sight of those mercies? No need to fear; they will be just as wonderful tomorrow as they were today.
Jeremiah wrote these words at a time when Israel was suffering much affliction. He described their sin and suffering in chapters 1 & 2. He described the destruction of Jerusalem, which was to come soon, in all its horror in chapter 4. In chapter 3 he shares his own personal pain in verses 1-18. But with a prayer to God to remember his bitter condition, the prophet gets his eyes off himself and onto the Lord. Hope is revived when he remembers that the Lord’s mercies and compassions ... are new every morning, and that His faithfulness is great (vv. 21–24). He remembered that as bad as things are, they could be worse!
My friends we have today in front of us. It’s no mistake that we woke up and are still breathing today. Life isn’t a matter of chance or fate; life is a matter of choice. God has chosen to let us live on the earth another day. May we choose to live today to live for Him seeking Him first and serving Him. May we choose to live today the holy life we wanted to live yesterday, but failed to do? My friends, God’s heart is to meet us where we are today. He longs to meet us at our greatest point of weakness and pain and wrap us up in His love. He longs for us to know He is with us, "The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. (Lamentations 3:22-23). God has limitless, powerful grace for us today. We can Run to Him with our sin and ask forgiveness. May we run to Him with our failures and struggles. May we run to Him with the pain of others’ words that He might speak His healing truth over us. As He is ready to give us a fresh start today to a brand new day, emotionally, spiritually, and physically." Great is your faithfulness Lord. May we embrace the gift of this day and use it wisely. We may not have this chance again.
AMEN!
